A new chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was dedicated in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on 31st October 2021 by Elder John Gutty from Asia Area Seventy along with President Robert William, New Delhi Mission President. Currently there are four branches in Visakhapatnam (also known as Vizag) and around 1200 members in total.
The members in the city were excited to gather for the dedication ceremony of the new chapel. Dunga Trinadha, president of one of the branches in Visakhapatnam, expressed, “My joy knew no bounds when this new chapel was dedicated and I am humbled by the new calling to lead the branch.”
It was a wonderful experience for the members to enter the chapel for almost after three years and they are excited to resume the physical gathering which they have missed due to the pandemic restrictions. Manuel Thota, a member from Visakhapatnam, said, “This occasion is more precious because we got a new chapel for our Church in the heart of the city and we are so grateful to God for blessing Vizag with such a beautiful chapel.”
The two-storied chapel is on a spacious and clean compound. The first floor has a large meeting hall arranged for the Sacrament meetings and on the second floor, the offices of branch presidents and clerks along with the rooms for Sunday school and all quorum meetings are arranged.
Venu Bora, who was present during the ceremony said, “I am thankful for the opportunity that I got to be a part of the dedication ceremony and having this wonderful experience and getting to hear the uplifting messages from the leaders, is a great blessing for me.”
